Crafting Freedom in a Glass: Our 4th of July Mixology Class at The Halles
This 4th of July, Sage Roots Cocktail Company had the honor of hosting a signature mixology class at The Halles in Round Top, inside their stunning JennAir-designed kitchen—a space known for blending luxury design with the creative spirit of Texas. The event brought together locals, travelers, cocktail enthusiasts, and even a Texas state congresswoman for an unforgettable evening of hands-on craft cocktail education.
Our Fourth of July mixology class was designed to showcase what sets Sage Roots apart: a commitment to farm-to-glass cocktails, fresh-pressed mixers, and the art of crafting drinks with balance, beauty, and intentionality. Guests were welcomed with a handcrafted cocktail before diving into a 60–90 minute interactive cocktail class where they learned the building blocks of flavor and the techniques behind truly exceptional drinks.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Throughout the evening, participants explored fresh ingredients—bright citrus, aromatic herbs, local honey, handcrafted syrups, and seasonal produce sourced from Texas farms. Our founder, Matt Camp, guided guests step-by-step as they created two elevated cocktails, learning how acidity, sweetness, aromatics, and texture work together in a perfectly balanced drink. This wasn’t just a demonstration—it was a full cocktail-making experience, complete with premium spirits, professional bar tools, garnishes, and recipe cards for recreating each drink at home.
The setting could not have been more ideal. The Halles’ JennAir kitchen provided a vibrant, modern backdrop that showcased the colors and freshness of the ingredients used throughout the class. The natural lighting, polished surfaces, and open layout highlighted every shake, stir, and pour. It was the perfect venue for anyone searching for a cocktail class in Round Top, a Texas mixology workshop, or a hands-on culinary experience during the holiday weekend.
One of the highlights of the night was the incredible sense of community. Guests laughed, shared stories, and toasted their creations as they explored the craft of mixology together. Hosting a congresswoman added an unexpected and memorable touch to the event—proof that great cocktails bring people of all backgrounds together.
As with every Sage Roots Cocktail Company experience, our goal was to deliver something more than a class—we aimed to create a moment. A gathering filled with learning, connection, and the celebration of local Texas flavors. Judging by the atmosphere in the room—and the smiles on everyone’s faces—we succeeded.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who joined us, as well as to our partners at The Halles for allowing us to host this event in their extraordinary space. If you’re interested in joining a future mixology class in Round Top or Bryan/College Station, or booking a private class for your group, keep an eye on our upcoming schedule. Each event is crafted with the same love, creativity, and Southern hospitality that define Sage Roots Cocktail Company.
